At French Rugby Academy, our goal is to develop thinking players who value intelligence, movement, and creativity over brute force. We want every child to build a lifelong love for rugby in a diverse, urban environment.
We believe rugby is for everyone: fast or powerful, new to the game or experienced. Our core values are team spirit, inclusion, resilience, humility, empathy, and authenticity.
We emphasize the “French way” of playing: intuitive, fluid rugby with ball movement and “avoidance over impact.” Instead of looking for collisions, we teach players to find and attack space, keep the ball alive, and support each other.
Rugby offers a holistic education: it teaches solidarity, respect, discipline, and mutual support. Children learn to manage physical contact safely, understand their bodies better, and put the team above the individual.
Registration is open for our inaugural Winter Sessions beginning February 4!
Building on this mission, we aim to cultivate creative, resilient, and inclusive young athletes through French‑style rugby, prioritizing ball movement, decision‑making, and the joy of collective play.
Game-Based and Fun
We train through games, small‑sided matches, and playful constraints so players stay engaged and learn by doing. Instead of endless lines and drills, we use problem‑solving situations that push kids to think, see space, and make decisions.
Positive Communication
Our coaches use clear, age‑appropriate language and focus on positive feedback. We regularly ask players how they feel, listen to them, and help them grow in confidence as both athletes and people.
Safety First
Safety is non‑negotiable. We systematically teach correct techniques for contact, tackling, and falling, and we adapt surfaces and spaces to the session (indoor, outdoor, weather). Learning to protect yourself and others is a central part of our rugby education.
Coaches as Role Models
Our educators model respect, calmness, and inclusion. They design structured sessions, respect schedules, and clearly explain objectives at the start of practice. We expect players to respect rules, teammates, opponents, and referees in the same spirit.
Technique in Game Situations
We don’t teach technique in isolation. Passing, tackling, and support are taught inside game‑like situations (for example 2‑on‑1 or 3‑on‑2) so players understand when and why to use skills, not just how.
Mindset & Game Intelligence
Effort, resilience, and respect are present in every exercise—celebrating good attempts, encouraging kids to get back up after mistakes, and reinforcing respect rituals (handshakes, applauding opponents).
During breaks, we use questions (“Why did you pass?”, “What other options did you have?”) to help players read the game, identify space, support the ball carrier, and make better decisions.
The French Touch
While many programs focus on “winning the gain line” through power, we focus on winning space through speed of hands and feet. We play a “standing game” more than a “ground game.”
Our aim is to produce versatile players who can pass, run, and make decisions in any position, not just specialists locked into one role
